A Welcome Message from the Headmaster
It is with great
enthusiasm and honour that I join Abuja World Academy as headmaster. My
commitment is to serve our vibrant community and lead the school in its
continued journey of excellence. With more than three decades of experience in
education, spanning both private and public sectors across Australia, the
United Kingdom, Oman, Malaysia and lastly Malawi, I bring a wealth of insight,
experience and a global perspective to my role.
Before joining
Abuja World Academy, I served as Principal of Mzuzu International Academy in
northern Malawi for three and a half years, where the school grew in both size
and reputation.
Prior to that, I
was Principal at Taylor’s International School in Malaysia, leading over 220
staff and more than 1,300 students. I also spent seven years as Principal of an
international school in Oman, which further strengthened my understanding of
diverse educational communities.
My academic
foundation is in Geography, complemented by an MSc in Development Studies from
the UK. I have also served as an Associate Lecturer for the Open University in
Cambridge, delivering various Environmental courses for ten years. These
experiences have deepened my appreciation for holistic education and the
importance of nurturing well-rounded global citizens.
My vision is to
build upon the solid foundations established by my predecessors,
working in close partnership with the Board to drive strategic initiatives and
develop robust action plans that benefit our whole community. I am
dedicated to fostering a dynamic atmosphere where teaching is passionate,
learning is engaging, and students are challenged to achieve their very
best.
I am committed
to maintaining high standards and consistency in teaching and learning across
the school. Drawing on my experience as a teacher, school leader, examiner and
inspector, I aim to enhance the learning experience while ensuring every child
feels supported and challenged.
I strongly
believe that education goes beyond academic success. Our students must also
develop confidence, communication skills and positive interpersonal values that
will prepare them for life in a global society. My guiding principle is simple:
students must feel safe, students must be learning, and students must enjoy and
love being at Abuja World Academy.
I look forward
to working tirelessly to elevate Abuja World Academy to new heights,
strengthening teaching and learning, and forging meaningful connections within
the Abuja community. My passion for education and attention to detail,
developed over 35 years in the field, will be devoted to serving our school and
realising its full potential.
Yours
sincerely,
Mr. Stefano Piumatti, Headmaster,
Abuja World Academy
