Our Curriculum
At Abuja World Academy, we embrace the academic excellence and flexibility of the Cambridge International curriculum, renowned worldwide for its rigour, relevance, and adaptability. Our curriculum is designed to empower students with a breadth of knowledge, critical thinking skills, and the versatility needed to thrive in an ever-changing global landscape.
We start with the Early Years Foundation Stage or EYFS for short. This takes younger children from 18 months old through their early years and prepares them with the necessary skills for the Primary curriculum.
Our students move seamlessly into Cambridge Lower Primary, sometimes known as Keystage 1 at the age of 5. The Primary curriculum builds in complexity both in learning style and content, culminating in the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint Exam in Year 6.
Year 7 is the start of the Secondary curriculum where subjects are more defined and specialised, much in the same way IGCSE studies are. In summary, the Cambridge Assessment International Examination curriculum prepares students for life, helping them develop an informed curiosity and a lasting passion for learning.
EYFS
Our Early Years classrooms are alive with bustle, excitement and the purposeful chatter that goes hand-in-hand with active learning.
Primary
Our Primary curriculum supports every child to achieve their potential and make consistent progress. We focus on experiential, active learning, offering the highest standard of education in an aspirational educational environment.
Secondary
Secondary education at Abuja World Academy is like no other, a school where talents are uncovered and individuality flourishes; where each child feels valued, included, and supported.
Inquiry-Based Learning
We champion an inquiry-based learning approach, encouraging students to ask questions, seek out answers, and engage with their learning in a proactive, hands-on manner. This method fosters independent thinking, problem-solving skills, and a deep love for learning that lasts a lifetime.
Support for Every Student
Our dedicated faculty and staff provide personalized support to ensure that every student can thrive. Whether through additional academic help, guidance in university applications, or support in extracurricular endeavors, we are committed to helping our students achieve their very best.
Values-Driven Education
Embedded in our curriculum are the core values of Responsibility, Integrity, Curiosity, and Empathy. These values are not just theoretical; they are interwoven into every lesson, project, and activity, ensuring that our students grow as compassionate, ethical, and innovative leaders ready to make a positive impact in the world.
Preparing for Global Success
IGCSE's
Our rigorous preparation for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) exams in Year 11 ensures students are academically equipped for further education and life challenges. We offer a wide range of IGCSE subjects, allowing students to specialize in areas of interest and strength.
Beyond IGCSE's
With a strong set of IGCSE results, students can pursue Foundation Degrees, A-Levels, or equivalent qualifications, paving the way to the world’s leading universities.
